Dreamworks Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

DreamWorks Animation LLC (also simply known as DreamWorks) is an American animation studio and a subsidiary of Universal Pictures, itself a subsidiary of Comcast's NBCUniversal. It is based in Glendale, California, and produces animated feature films, television programs, and online virtual games. The studio has currently released a total of 38 feature films, beginning with Antz (1998); its most recent film is Trolls World Tour (2020), with their next release being The Croods 2 on December 23, 2020.

Back in 2015 DreamWorks was accused of 'whitewashing' Ghost in the Shell by casting Scarlett JohanssonBen Child according to an article posted in The Guardian and reported by Ben Child. “The original film is set in Japan, and the major cast members are Japanese,” reads the petition. “So why would the American remake star a white actress? The industry is already unfriendly to Asian actors without roles in major films being changed to exclude them. Campaigners angered at the paucity of roles for east Asian actors in Hollywood have launched a petition calling for Scarlett Johansson to be dismissed from the forthcoming US remake of classic anime Ghost in the Shell. “DreamWorks could be using this film to help provide opportunities for Asian-American actors in a market with few opportunities for them to shine. Please sign the petition asking them to reconsider casting Scarlett Johansson in Ghost in the Shell and select actors who are truer to the cast of the original film!”

Creative (Former Employee) says

"Nightmare institution incapable of meeting corporate standards or responding to consistent complaints about an inappropriate pattern of behavior from upper level management. Absolutely no regard for flagrant violations of company policy given a greater concern with perpetuating a dysfunctional manager so long as she keeps winning EmmysFree foodFree food quality. Extremely low salary and toxic work environment."

TV Production Assistant (Former Employee) says

"The people who work there are wonderful and really make the job worth having. The hours are long, filled with meetings and constant work. You will get a wealth of experience and hands-on learning. If you want to become an executive, then this is a good place to start."

production person (Former Employee) says

"Highly paranoid people. Due to middle management lacking typical degrees in business management or otherwise; lot's of managers hired due to "knowing somebody". Most production staff is highly competitive, and management encourages a "survival of the fittest" mentality. Warm and cuddly on the outside with the campus perks, but the reality is very different at it's core. For the employee that never aspires to do anything but work on art and never progress their career, this place is great. The minute you show any desire to advance your career, the sharks will come out.free food, beautiful campus, jk really cares and is very nice, films are fun to work oncut throat environment is encouraged or often overlooked, middle management often lacks education or training, reviews are done by artist with no management experience"

Character Designer (Former Employee) says

"They depend on so little to get results. Super nice people to work with but it seems poorly managed. This only applies to freelance and not the inhouse."

Visual Development Artist (Former Employee) says

"over worked and underpaid. If you haven't got your foot in the door I would recommend DW. after that I would steer clear unless you want to over worked and underpaid"

Administrative Licensing Coordinator (Former Employee) says

"Working at DreamWorks Animation overall was a good experience, but don't expect to be paid what you're worth or have job security. Pros - The campus is beautiful and lively, the cafeteria serves you complimentary breakfast and lunch, and people are better looking than average, and there are often parties and movies on campus. Cons - The pay is low with small yearly increases! The opportunities for advancement are also low so many employees felt stuck in their positions. As for job security, when their films are doing poorly, I've seen entire marketing departments get cut in half overnight. If someone steps out of line or if you make a mistake, it is not taken lightly. I saw long-time employees let go because of ridiculous ego-driven reasons.Beautiful campus, free meals and movies, partiesLow pay, few opportunities for advancement, big egos"

Global Brand Creative Design and Development (Current Employee) says

"Fun place to work. Wish the movies were more profitable. Hope Dreamworks finds a way to flip the graph so that the line climbs up."

Technical Resource Administrator (Former Employee) says

"The job itself was easy, but the mangers have difficulty listening to their employees. They do not know how the department operations, but act like the know. I wouldn't recommend any friends for this job."
